Wilkins Miller, an accounting and advisory firm with offices in Mobile and Fairhope, has been named one of the 2019 “Best Firms for Young Accountants” by Accounting Today. Out of 10 firms selected, Wilkins Miller was the only firm from Alabama to make the list.

“We are honored to be recognized on this inaugural selection of “Best Firms for Young Accountants,” Wilkins Miller Managing Partner Allen Carroll said. “We have always prioritized our culture and making our firm a great place for our young people.”

Accounting Today identified the 2019 Best Firms for Young Accountants from the 2019 Best Firms to Work For. These firms must have a minimum of 15 employees under the age of 30 (or 10 percent of total employees, whichever is greater); at least 10 employees under the age of 30 completing the Best Firms to Work For employee survey; and a 40 percent or greater response rate for employees under the age of 30.

Reynolds + Rowella, an accounting and consulting firm with offices in Ridgefield and New Canaan has received a 2019 Top Workplace Award.  Hearst Connecticut Media Group has recognized 50 companies and organizations as Top Workplaces for 2019.  These companies have been recognized based solely on surveys about the workplace completed by their employees.  The survey asks questions related to seven different topics regarding workplace culture.  This marks the fourth consecutive year Reynolds + Rowella has won a Top Workplace award for Southern Connecticut.

Geffen Mesher has been named the Best Accounting Firm of 2019 by the Daily Journal of Commerce (DJC), a prominent publication in the building and construction industry.

Every year, the DJC polls local industry professionals and solicits nominations for the best companies and products across a wide variety of categories, including Architecture/Engineering/Construction, Service Providers & Suppliers, and Food & Drink. This year, more than 4,300 local companies were nominated to win the prestigious Reader Rankings Award in their respective categories.

Following the preliminary nomination period, the DJC allowed its full readership to vote on the nominated firms and select the top choice in each category. After two weeks and nearly 16,000 votes, the DJC was able to compile the results and generate an official ranking of the top firms of 2019.

At an awards ceremony on Wednesday, August 7, the DJC announced that Geffen Mesher had been named Best Accounting Firm of 2019, outperforming Aldrich, Delap, and Moss Adams.

“We’re thrilled that the DJC’s readers have chosen Geffen Mesher as their top choice in 2019,” said Tax Department Chair Tania Gitch, who accepted the award on the firm’s behalf. “We’ve been nominated before, but winning our category secures our status as Portland’s premier CPA and consulting firm.”

Johnson Lambert Wins AAM-MAA Integrated Branding Award

An innovative platform has been launched to help DFK International member firms attract the brightest talent from around the world to support and grow their businesses.

They can now access a large pool of global talent available through the worldwide body for professional accountants ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

A dedicated online careers site for DFK International has been created within ACCA’s established recruitment portal, ACCA Careers and Job Board.

It can connect DFK firms with ACCA’s unrivaled network of some 700,000 students and members around the world, and help them to source quality candidates among aspiring and experienced accountancy professionals.

Those with ACCA Approved Employer status are able to post their company profiles and current vacancies on the site, with plans to extend it to all DFK firms.

The site also provides a direct link to DFK International’s own website to enable ACCA’s membership to access a full list of DFK firms and information on career opportunities available.

The new initiative is a result of the partnership formed between DFK and ACCA last year, when a memorandum of understanding was signed to strengthen the global talent pool of the profession.

Martin Sharp, executive director of DFK International, said: “We’re delighted to be launching this initiative with ACCA as we recognize that many of our members share a common challenge within the accountancy profession of attracting and developing talent.

“ACCA’s members are among the most highly-qualified and highly sought after accountants in the world and this is a way of creating a shortcut for them to find opportunities amongst our member firms, and for our members to attract the right people to their organisation.

“In the first instance, it is aimed at those DFK firms that hold ACCA Approved Employer status and we will be exploring the possibility of extending it to our members more widely.”

The ACCA Careers and Job Board attracts 170,000 unique users and 1.2 million page views a month, generating 70,000 applications to jobs posted.
